The Port Campbell Suspension Bridge provides community and visitor access across the Campbell Creek estuary in the Port Campbell National Park. The bridge was delivered as part of a $3.2m project for Parks Victoria.
Built to withstand one to 100-year weather events, Arcus Wire Group was selected to supply hamma, Flexi-Mesh and Teufelberger-Redaelli products to meet the highly specified design requirements.
The materials used for the project included:
1.5mm 40x70mm Flexi-Mesh
Perimeter Cables: AX06-0006
Today the bridge provides year-round connection for the community and tourists between the Port Campbell township and the nearby Discovery Trail in Port Campbell National Park.
The remote location required close coordination of logistics to site. All hamma stainless steel cables were swaged and tested at Arcus Wire Group’s manufacturing facility in Queensland and transported to Port Campbell. Specialist installer Bespoke Wire and Rope installed the Flexi-mesh cable mesh and hamma cables.
The balustrade design incorporated large spans of Flexi-mesh resulting in a seamless expanse of mesh balustrading, delivering design integrity and providing a safe walkway.
